Nikon Eg-D100 Audio Video Cable - D100

I bought this cable for my Nikon D60 camera (as it is not supplied with the camera) but was very disappointed with the quality of playback through the TV so returned it and got a full refund.

Flashtastic.....

Bought this for my D300 as the nice little infrared remote that worked with my D40 does not work with Nikons more expensive DSLRs. The unit is well made and comes with a nice Nikon carry case (quite difficult to make it fit back in so take a good look at how it fits BEFORE you pull it all out!)
Easy to fit to camera and very easy to use. Easily performs over the stated distance and because there is no physical contact with the camera you can get pin sharp pictures when used on a tripod. The camera receiver can be twisted to any position so you can"fire" the camera from behind/front/side (something you cannot do with the smaller remotes on the D40 etc. as the receiver is fitted to the front face of the camera itself.
This item is only a few pounds more than the wired version and gives you much greater flexibility, however because the receiver is powered from the camera battery it ties up the"hotshoe" on the camera which means you cannot use the flash without buying some (no doubt expensive Nikon) adaptor.
Other than the small point mentioned above this is an excellent unit and highly recommended.
One more point is that it looks, excuse the pun, FLASH !!!

I contacted the vendor before ordering after reading the 1 star review. They assured me it was as pictured. When delivered it was exactly as the picture.

Does what it says - replaces lost eyepiece on Nikon FE

My second-hand Nikon FE suddenly and mysteriously lost its rubber eyepiece. Whilst this is not exactly critical to the functioning of the camera it does raise the likelihood of scratching one's glasses, so a replacement seemed a good idea. This does the job ideally. It comes in a (very small) Nikon box and appears to be an original Nikon item - hence the slightly high price I guess (and the reason for the loss of a star). Delivery from Amazon was prompt and efficient.

Nikon does its own thing!

You would think that if you bought a lens marked +1, that is what you would get. In most cases you would, but there is always someone who has to be different. Nikon labels its eyepiece correction lenses according to the total effect, including the -1 in the camera, so what is actually in the packet is a +2 dioptre lens, because two (actual lens) minus one (in camera) equals one (total effect) right? If you want an actual +1 lens, you have to buy one marked 0 (zero)! Obviously Nikon never heard of the Trades Descriptions Act. Not a lot of people know about this weird method of marking, including those in the camera shops I spoke to, Jessops among them. Another thing, Nikon cameras display exposure compensation and exposure error, with positive to the left. Noone else in the world draws any kind of diagram with positive to the left. Why do some people have to go out of their way to be different, even when a world-wide standard has been established for hundreds of years? Of course I had to send the lens back. I did not get an e-mail about it and had to phone, all a big waste of time. It turned out that the reason I did not get an e-mail, was that I had blocked Amazon, because they send me so much spam. The product gets a one star rating (zero is not allowed) because it was useless to me. If it does happen to be what you need, there will be nothing wrong with it. In the end, I bought a pair of +1 glasses from Poundland and cut down a lens to fit.

A solid, functional camera

Having previously owned a Nikon F55, I was interested to see how I could develop my photography using the model up - I haven't been disappointed. This is a lightweight unit and it does almost everything I can imagine wanting to do (though I did buy it with a 100-300 zoom). The range of flash options means it is highly adaptable and the additional night-time programme setting has proved much more useful than I thought it might! At the same time, there is considerable flexibility to adjust everything manually. The only real down side is the slightly slow and cumbersome selection process for the focussing grid, but that is only a problem when you're setting up a specific shot.

Overall, I am delighted with this camera - it's light, well built and seems pretty durable.

Ahh - I can see again!

If you've got the level of short-sightedness I have, you'll know that manual focusing becomes tricky - you either have your glasses on and can't see the composition properly, or off and can't see the focus properly.

This corrects vision so that you can work with glasses off but still see sharply through the viewfinder.

Note when buying - buy the one closest to the actual number on your script - don't allow for the precorrection of -1 in the viewfinder. So, my script is -3.4, so I bought a -3 and then use the D80's viewfinder adjustment to correct more accurately.

You also can't refit the rubber eyecup on top of this - really doesn't matter, but don't bother spending ages trying to make it fit like I did!
